Verizon loyalty discounts return: how to score a better deal

Verizon is once again facing pressure to reward long-term customers. Reports are surfacing of subscribers receiving loyalty discounts after a year of service, prompting questions about securing even greater savings in the coming year.

Unlock potential savings: the port-out pin strategy

The strategy, as outlined by numerous Reddit users, hinges on leveraging Verizon's concern over losing a loyal customer. By requesting a Port-Out PIN, Verizon is prompted to offer incentives to stay.

The process is straightforward. Within the My Verizon app, navigate to Account> Edit profile & settings> Security>Number Transfer PIN. Generate the 6-digit PIN, valid for just 7 days. Remember to disable Number Lock if it's active. Prepaid customers will use their Account PIN instead.

Many long-time Verizon subscribers, myself included, have seen the value of this tactic firsthand. Just earlier this year, I successfully negotiated a $40 credit ($10 per line) following a widespread service outage. The key is timing and demonstrating your commitment.

However, some customers report inconsistencies. Instead of a flat discount, some are being offered percentage-based reductions – like 25% off their total bill. This variation suggests Verizon isn't uniformly generous. And, according to some, the traditional loyalty discounts are disappearing, with representatives now pushing AutoPay as the primary cost-saving measure.

Verizon has a long history of valuing its loyal base. A 21-year relationship warrants more than a token gesture. The question remains: will Verizon respond to the threat of customer churn with a more substantial offer?
