The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra has been announced, boasting a slew of impressive features, including a privacy display, lightning-fast processor, and various Galaxy AI enhancements.

Bloatware a bane in flagship device

Despite its premium price tag of $1,300, the S26 Ultra has been criticized for the sheer amount of pre-installed third-party apps, commonly referred to as bloatware. The list includes apps from Meta, Microsoft, Google, and Spotify.

Users who have received their hands on the device are expressing frustration over the lack of choice during setup and the redundancy of apps, such as the presence of both the Google Play Store and Samsung Galaxy Store, as well as multiple browsers and cloud storage services.

This abundance of apps is reportedly taking up around 17 GB of storage space, leaving users with limited room for their own content.

Learning from apple

Many are calling for Samsung and other Android brands to follow in Apple's footsteps by minimizing or entirely eliminating pre-installed apps that can't be uninstalled. This would provide a cleaner user experience and better utilize the device's storage capacity.
