Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Leads Android Market Share in Q2 2026

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra achieved a historic milestone in Q2 2026, becoming the most popular Android phone globally based on market share, according to Counterpoint Research. This marks the first time an ultra-premium Android device has topped the list outside of the first quarter.

Delayed Launch Drives Record Sales

Despite being unveiled in February – later than the Galaxy S25’s launch last year – the S26 Ultra’s sales shifted significantly into Q2 2026. Counterpoint senior analyst Harshit Rastogi noted this delay “shifted more sales into Q2,” contributing to the phone’s unprecedented success.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra accounted for over half of the Galaxy S26 series’ total sales, surpassing its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra. While it ranked as the first Android phone for Q2 2026, it was the fourth overall phone sold during the quarter. The Galaxy A07 4G and Galaxy A17 followed behind in the rankings.

Samsung is focusing on flagship smartphones, increasing promotions and strategically allocating resources to combat rising costs. The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s industry-first privacy display and enhanced AI capabilities further differentiate it from competitors. Notably, iPhones maintained the top three positions on the overall list, mirroring the previous year’s results.
