Samsung drops $1000+ on foldables, t-mobile offers a shocking deal

Samsung’s latest foldable phones – the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8 – are arriving with a hefty price tag, adding a notable $100 premium to their already-expensive predecessors. But hold on: T-Mobile is throwing a curveball, offering discounts that could make these devices surprisingly accessible.

A premium price hike, then a massive discount

The Z Fold 8 Ultra starts at a staggering $2,099.99, while the wider Z Fold 8 begins at $1,899.99. Let’s be clear – these aren’t impulse buys. However, T-Mobile is attempting to soften the blow with aggressive promotions. They’re knocking a remarkable $1,900 off the Fold 8 Ultra and $1,000 off the Fold 8 – effectively making the Ultra available for just $200, and the Fold 8 for a mere $1,000.

To snag these deals, you’ll need to trade in an eligible device and be subscribed to either the Experience Beyond or Go5G Next plan. The Flip 8 is similarly enticing, starting at $1,199.99, but T-Mobile is letting you grab it for just $100 – again, with a trade-in requirement or by adding a new line to a qualifying plan.

Business accounts are also benefiting, with potential savings of up to $1,300 on device purchases through the SuperMobile plan. Even without a trade-in, adding a line to SuperMobile could unlock a discount of up to $900. These credits will be applied monthly, after taxes.

Samsung isn’t stopping at the foldables. Its new Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 are also seeing discounts, with a $430 saving available to those on the Watch Plan Plus. And starting July 30th, T-Mobile customers can further sweeten the deal with 25% off a case, screen protector, charger, and Samsung Buds bundle.

T-mobile’s gamble: why it matters

T-mobile’s gamble: why it matters

This isn't simply a marketing stunt; it's a strategic move by T-Mobile to solidify its position as the ‘Un-carrier.’ Foldable devices were already a luxury, and these price increases would have effectively relegated them to the upper echelon of consumer electronics. T-Mobile’s offers are a calculated risk – a way to inject some serious value into a segment dominated by premium pricing and create a compelling reason for customers to remain loyal. It's a clear message: they're not just offering service; they're offering access.
