Revolut lands in paris, betting big on european tech hub

Paris is set to become the beating heart of Revolut’s European expansion, with the fintech giant staking its claim in the city’s historic financial district and burgeoning tech scene.

A strategic move, not just a base

Revolut has confirmed its decision to establish a major European headquarters at the intersection of the Bourse area – a landmark of French finance – and Sentier, a district rapidly transforming into a hotbed for startups and innovation. This isn’t simply about securing office space; it’s a calculated move to solidify Revolut’s position as a key player in the European market and capitalize on the region’s significant growth potential.

The firm, boasting over 25 million customers across Western Europe and 6 million in Spain, will occupy 2,417 square meters within a meticulously restored 19th-century building. The architect, Albert Waldwein, originally recognized the structure's architectural merit, preserving its distinctive steel frame and ornate facade – a testament to Parisian heritage.

The painstaking restoration, completed in 2025, has carefully maintained elements like the stone facade, original steel structure, and wooden staircases. This deliberate preservation reflects Revolut’s commitment to integrating into the fabric of the city, a deliberate contrast to the sterile, modern offices often favored by tech companies.

Beyond the aesthetics, the new space is designed to foster collaboration and employee wellbeing, a crucial factor in driving continued growth. CEO Béatrice Cossa-Dumurgier emphasized that the Parisian location represents “the faithful reflection of Revolut’s identity in the region: a bridge between Paris’s financial legacy and Sentier’s dynamic energy.” The firm anticipates adding over 400 professionals and ultimately reaching a workforce of 1,500 experts within the next few years – a serious investment in the European market.

This expansion is supported by a substantial 1 billion euro regional investment plan, highlighting Revolut’s long-term commitment to France and Western Europe. Specifically, the company is actively pursuing a French banking license, targeting markets including France (over 7 million customers), Spain (more than 6 million), Italy (over 4.5 million), Germany (over 3 million), Ireland (over 3 million), and Portugal (over 2 million). The ground floor will prominently feature the Revolut logo, a visible declaration of intent.

“This announcement firmly reaffirms Revolut’s dedication to France and Western Europe,” stated the company.
