Google finally released a standalone Now Playing app for Pixel phones, a long-requested feature now available, but with a significant restriction.

The app, long integrated into the Pixel experience, now boasts a fresh, modern interface leveraging Material You design. The floating toolbar offers three tabs: a real-time song identifier, a history of identified tracks, and a list of favorites.
