Microsoft overhauls outlook's people experience for lightning-fast contact management

Microsoft has unleashed a major update to Outlook, fundamentally transforming how users interact with their contacts. The company has completely revamped the People experience, prioritizing speed, efficiency, and unified results across the platform.

Search and suggest now powers seamless contact navigation

The update's star feature is an intelligent search system that lets users quickly locate any organization member without navigating complex org charts. As names are typed, results appear instantly, including job titles, departments, and other relevant details.

Outlook now offers contextual suggestions based on how users communicate and the organizational structure, enabling them to initiate Teams chats or calls directly from search results.

Other notable enhancements include a multi-column table design for a clear view of all contacts and easier filtering and organization, as well as rapid actions like emailing, calling, or starting chats without opening individual contact cards.

Mass contact management and consistent user experience

Mass contact management and consistent user experience

The update improves large-scale contact management, allowing users to select multiple contacts at once for labeling, mass messaging, and other batch actions.

Most significantly, the revamped People experience is uniform across desktop, web, and Teams versions, offering the same speed, functionality, and ease of use.

The update is now available in Outlook for desktop and web, accessible via the People icon in the left navigation bar. These improvements not only speed up contact management within the organization but also strengthen Outlook's appeal versus the classic version.
