Apple's new smartwatch won't shake up the status quo

Apple's next smartwatch, reportedly the Series 12, is unlikely to bring significant design changes, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. This fall's release is expected to look largely similar to last year's Series 11, continuing the trend of incremental updates.

More of the same may be just fine

Apple's consistency in not drastically altering its watch design is not uncommon in the industry. Samsung's Galaxy Watch and Google's Pixel Watch have also seen minimal aesthetic changes in recent years. Even Apple's own Apple Watch Ultra and Galaxy Watch Classic variants don't stray far from the norm.

Rumors of a radical Apple Watch redesign have persisted, but these claims have yet to materialize. The notion of a major overhaul may not happen until 2028 at the earliest, and even then, it might be a cosmetic update rather than a fundamental rethinking of the device.

Some argue that the square design of Apple Watches has its merits, while others prefer a more classic, circular look. However, the features and functionality of these devices ultimately take precedence for many users.

For now, it seems Apple is content with maintaining a familiar design for its smartwatches, a strategy that has worked well for the company so far.
