Apple iphone 2027 to get 200mp sony sensor, leaks suggest

Rumors are swirling that the iPhone 2027, potentially the iPhone 19 or 20, may feature a 200MP camera sensor from Sony, a significant upgrade over current iPhone cameras.

Sony lyt-901 sensor could be game-changer

The rumored Sony LYT-901 sensor measures 1/1.12 inches, making it large for phone cameras, and uses 0.7-micron pixels with Quad-Quad Bayer Technology for improved low-light performance. It can shoot 200MP photos at 10fps or 50MP shots at 30fps, and supports crop zoom with minimal quality loss.

This would be a major leap forward for iPhone cameras, which currently top out at 48MP on the iPhone 17 Pro. Chinese flagships like the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra already boast quad-camera setups with large sensors and high-resolution primary lenses.

While Apple has used Sony sensors in past iPhones, this would mark a significant step up in camera capabilities. However, it's unclear if this upgrade will actually materialize in 2027, with some speculating it could be delayed to a future model.
