Ai adoption curves: early birds soar, laggards struggle
Anthropic's latest report, titled 'Learning Curves,' sheds light on the explosive growth and shifting use cases of generative AI Technology Claude. By analyzing over a million conversations on the platform during the first week of February 2026, researchers found that while the number of tasks hasn't increased, users are engaging with Claude for a wider variety of activities.

Early adopters gain the upper hand
Perhaps the most striking finding is the significant advantage held by long-time users, those with more than six months of experience with Claude. These veterans utilize the AI for work-related tasks 7% more frequently and less for personal leisure, tackling projects that require nearly an additional year of education. Their success rate is also 10% higher, with the gap persisting even after controlling for task type, country, language, and model used. This suggests that experience plays a crucial role in effectively utilizing AI.
As the report notes, this 'change Technology biased towards skills' could exacerbate existing inequalities, favoring those already well-versed in AI. The question remains: can the gap be bridged, or is the early mover advantage too entrenched to overcome?
