Google clock gains live updates for timers and stopwatches
Google has quietly rolled
out a significant update to its Clock app, introducing Live Updates for timers and stopwatches.
Real-time status on the always-on display
With the new feature, when you exit the Clock app while a timer or stopwatch is running, you'll see a highlighted clock icon in your status bar. Tapping on this icon brings up a new Live Update view, complete with controls to adjust the timer or stopwatch.
Previously, the icon would appear in the status bar, accompanied by a notification or the timer/stopwatch running in the At a Glance widget. Now, the always-on display will show the real-time status of your timer in all its glory.
This update is part of Google Clock version 9.0, but a server-side rollout means the feature won't activate immediately even if you're running the correct app version. Check your Clock app settings to confirm you're on 9.0, but don't expect the Live Updates to appear right away – it's up to Google to flip the switch.
